Cuteness, and I am thinking about raising farm animals such as goats. Are their things or websites I should read to find out the best way to do so

Hello Mr T! How I have missed you! There are some great sites on farm animals. Do as I did and just type in "How to raise (whatever animal you wish to research)". And you hit of kinds of sites to review. I read up on several in the beginning and still am reading. It's a wonderful experience and I have learned so much and really filled my time with laughter, smiles, tears and fears and yet so much love!

I miss you too dear lady. I thought you had forgotten about me or just swore off talking to me. I shall do as you say. i am looking toward buying a few acres of land and then will raise my own animals such as chickens and goats and hope to have a vegetable garden as well. The thing is beyond cats a dogs and a couple horse I have never really raised my own farm animals. The closest I ever came was milking cows and shoveling manure at my cousins farm. I did it for free milk. I was wondering what does a person feed goats to get healthy milk from them and the what the heck do chickens eat? Do they just eat corn or are they meat eaters too. So I figured i would ask my favorite farmer the famous Granny. I miss ya so much girl

LoL! Oh Mr T! Long time since I got a chance to get on here but want to answer your questions about farm animals. The goat eat hay and graze all day on grass in the yard/pen. They also get a half cup of grain (sweet feed) in the evening. I give them treats now and then, they love apples, vanilla wafers, even carrots. The chickens have a grain too. The type of grain depends on the age of the chickens. They also get scratch feed that I throw in the yard for them which is cracked corn and seeding of wheat ( the chickens do good this way and give me an egg a day each, which I sell what I don't use. (snicking...I now have 40 chickens..a lot of eggs Ha!)And I give then scraps, such as left over green beans, salads, carrots, potatoes and so on..None of my animals are meat eaters, not even the pigs.
I get really good goat milk from my goats and make soap, candles, and all kinds of stuff from it. I love the soap as its very silky and rich.
In my veggie garden, I think I got everything planted there. I Do lots of canning during the summer and early fall. Thats why I am not online much right now.
Miss you bunches dearest Trelore!!! XOXO

Thank you granny I appreciate it. So chickens can eat peas and stuff. i did not know that one. I asked because I want to make sure my animals when I get them will get the best nutrition. I wish i had some of those eggs though. i hate store bought eggs. Even Egglands doesn't taste as good as farm raised.

You make soap out of goats milk? I did not even know that was possible.

Missing you granny
